How to Look Polished and Put Together : Step 1

Updated: May 25, 2023

One of the most common things that I hear from women is how they can look polished and put together.

If this is something you would like to achieve, I'm going to breakdown the Pathway to Polish in four easy steps, and in this post, I'll be focusing on the first step which is absolutely critical - without this, you will not achieve a polished look.

When we look at successful business leaders, people in the media and political figures - they all share this quality of looking put together, regardless of what their individual personal style might be.

When someone looks put together, it sends a really strong visual clue that we interpret as: this person has got it together, they know who they are, what they stand for and what they're doing.

And when you feel put together, you feel strong, confident and in control.

So the first key step on the Pathway to Polish is to commit. Commit to taking the time and putting in the effort.

I certainly don't wake up looking polished (far from it!) and most people can't just roll out of bed in the morning and look that way. It takes a bit of time and effort - and if you are someone who is time poor, then it's even more important that you do make some time in your routine for it.

Make this part of your self care routine. It's going to have a huge impact on how you start your day and the energy that you take with you throughout the day.

It's really difficult to start your day and walk out the door looking polished if you're scrambling about in the morning, trying on two or three different outfits and finally settling on something because you've run out of time and you end up feeling like a hot mess.

Commit to taking a couple of minutes the night before to decide on your outfits, so you know exactly what items of clothing, shoes, accessories and even hairstyle you are doing.

And then make time to do it. The time that you put aside and commit to has to work for you, your lifestyle and your goals. You need to be able to maintain it and be consistent.

So whether that's 5 minutes each evening and 15 or 20 minutes in the morning - choose what feels right for you, but the most important part is that you commit to yourself that you are going to invest the time and the energy to looking polished and put together.

Stay tuned for Step 2 on the Pathway to Polish.
